Lore & Background

While the Rebels scatter after the evacuation of Hoth, Han Solo and Princess Leia seek refuge in Cloud City, a glittering metropolis suspended in the gas giant Bespin. There, they are ensnared by an old friend turned betrayer, Lando Calrissian, who trades them to Darth Vader to save his people from Imperial occupation. The narrative climaxes in a lightsaber duel that violently shatters Luke Skywalker's understanding of his lineage; the noble hero he mourns is dead, replaced by the terrifying reality that his father is the man hunting him. This revelation fractures the Rebel unity and leaves the galaxy hanging on a precipice of despair.

In Their Own Story

The wind screams across the white wastes of Hoth, burying Echo Base under layers of ice and silence. Inside the command center, alarms shriek as red emergency lights strobe against cold metallic walls. Outside the viewport, a massive AT-AT walker looms like a mechanical leviathan, its hydraulic legs crushing snow with terrifying, rhythmic thuds that shake the earth. Luke grips his control yoke in a snowspeeder, feeling the violent vibration of the engines through his gloves as he braces for what might be their final stand. In the distance, TIE fighters scream past, their laser fire streaking like angry red veins against the blinding white sky, turning the frozen battlefield into a chaotic dance of death and desperate evasion.

Reader's Guide

The saga resumes with the Rebel Alliance hiding on Hoth, only to be crushed by an overwhelming Imperial ground assault. Rebels utilize snowspeeders and tow cables in a harrowing ballet to topple the massive AT-AT walkers before executing a chaotic evacuation via transport ships.

Haunted by visions of his friends in peril, Luke departs for Dagobah to complete his training under Yoda, learning that true strength stems from faith rather than anger. Simultaneously, Han, Leia, Chewbacca, and C-3PO flee to Cloud City, where they walk into a trap set by Lando Calrissian, who is coerced by the Empire.

Luke arrives on Bespin too late, only to be drawn into a fateful duel with Darth Vader within the city's carbon-freezing chamber. Defeated and hanging over an abyss, Luke learns the devastating truth: Vader is his father. Choosing death over surrendering to the dark side, he leaps from the gantry, only to be rescued by R2-D2. He escapes with Leia, leaving Lando to orchestrate Han Solo's rescue from carbonite.
